Children Flourish in Montessori Style Classrooms!
Maria Montessori was an Italian physician who developed a method of education that would address a wide variety of abilities.
The Montessori program was first adapted for students who were struggling in school. However, when the Montessori style was applied to typically progressing and even advanced students, the growth was phenomenal!!
*If you have a bright student and you are worried that they won't be challenged in a regular preschool, this is a great place for your student! Each child is instructed at their own level. I currently have students who are reading, doing multi-digit addition, multiplication, and building numbers into the thousands. I have taught through 3rd grade and have the tools and education necessary to meet them at their level.
*If your child seems to be progressing typically, this is a great place for them! I have lots of activities to keep them engaged and challenged.
*If your student has learning differences, this could be an excellent place for them. Because each student is taught at their own pace and all of the materials involve hands-on and tactile work, children with learning differences tend to make great progress in Montessori classrooms.

Montessori really does have a wide reach and can accommodate for the largest variety of needs.

Highly-Distractable Children
Most preschoolers are easily distracted. That is to be expected for this age group. However, if you find that your child seems to be significantly more distracted than their same-aged peers or if you believe that they may have a possible ADHD or ADD diagnosis, this may not be the right fit for your student.

The Montessori classroom is designed around free movement and free choice in activities. Children are always moving about the classroom and playing with different materials. Although this sounds ideal for students who struggle with attention, I have found that for our particular classroom set up, highly-distracted children frequently become too distracted by the movement of the other students. This can greatly impact their progress. It is important to me that all kids are able to be in a setting where they are comfortable and can best reach their potential.

With that being said, ADHD/ADD manifest in drastically different ways from one child to another. I am always happy to accommodate any and all children. I will be happy to meet with you and your child to see if this structure can be a good fit for your family.
