What is Montessori?
"The Montessori Method of education, developed by Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on the scientific observations of children. Montessori's method has been used for over 100 years in many parts of the world." -Wikipedia
How is it Different?
"Montessori emphasizes learning through all five senses, not just through listening, watching, or reading. Children in Montessori classes learn at their own individual pace and interest. Learning is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning. Montessori classes place children in three year age groups (e.g., ages 3-6) forming communities in which older children spontaneously share knowledge with younger students. Montessori represents an entirely different approach to education." -NAMTA website
